- ANNO 1958 -

A special vision began in 1958. Franz Rettenwender Sr. laid the foundations for a long-standing tradition and welcomed the first vacation guests to the idyllic Alpendorf region directly on the farm. The children slept in the attic to make room for the guests in the rooms. That same year, the first families spent their vacations here.

- ANNO 1963-1965 -

Frieda and Franz Rettenwender recognized the demand for vacations in nature and in the mountains early on. This vision led them to take a bold step: the construction of the Berghof. From 1963 to 1965, the hotel was built with a great deal of passion and dedication. On May 1, 1965, the time had finally come - the Berghof opened its doors and welcomed its first guests.

- ANNO 1969 -

Four years after the opening of the Gasthof Berghof, in 1969, another milestone was reached: the opening of the first ski lift laid the foundation for today's ski region. Another important step followed in the 1977/1978 winter season - the founding of Alpendorf Bergbahnen.

Franz Rettenwender and other dedicated pioneers made Alpendorf what it is today: a paradise for winter sports enthusiasts and nature lovers.

- ANNO 1986 -

In 1986, Theresia and Franz Rettenwender took over the Berghof and transformed it over the years into a 4-star superior hotel. The expansion of the wellness area and the construction of an outdoor pool in our natural garden created a wonderful place for a relaxing and special vacation.

In 2019, Christine and Robert Rettenwender took over the Berghof in the third generation and brought their great passion and commitment with them. This special warmth that characterizes the Berghof is preserved with the utmost care. The top priority is to maintain the soothing atmosphere, the attentive service and the attention to detail.

Since the early days of the Berghof, new standards have been set again and again. In recent years, they have often paid close attention to the feedback and wishes of their guests. For even more vacation quality, it is time to break new ground.

Family Rettenwender invest in the expansion and conversion of the Hotel Berghof in the year 2024. In a construction period of just under 8 months, the entire first floor and all public areas, such as the entire restaurant, the buffet Genussplatz, the entire internal staff rooms and workplaces, the new construction of the 3rd and 4th floors with 20 new suites and the new construction of the 5th floor with the rooftop spa with infinity pool, relaxation rooms and sauna for adults were built.

THE BERGQUELLE - B&B Hotel at the Achterjet Flachau

Viktoria and Franz Rettenwender, another part of the Rettenwender family, run the B&B Hotel The Bergquelle in the heart of Flachau, just a few meters from the Achterjet gondola lift. This small, fine bed & breakfast hotel in a fantastic location is the perfect starting point for summer and winter adventures in the mountains of Salzburg. Bright, cozy rooms, a small relaxation oasis with Finnish sauna, steam bath and infrared cabin and the top location directly on the slopes characterize the house.
